Australia’s Indigenous communities and their proud heritage will be celebrated in a huge week of NRL from 7.30pm tomorrow night.
James Bracey hosts with Paul Vautin, Brad Fittler, Andrew Johns, Cameron Smith, Peter Psaltis. Sideline – Darren Lockyer, Johnathan Thurston and Danika Mason.
Johnathan Thurston (Gunggari) said: “Rugby league is by far the most significant sport to First Nations people, who are the oldest living culture in the world. We are so lucky to watch the amazing skills of our culture on show every week in the NRL.
“Indigenous Round is all about recognising the feats of our players and making people aware that whilst we are making improvements, we still have a long way to go in supporting Indigenous communities, which is why this round is so important.”
From the home of the Wurundjeri people, the Storm and the Sea Eagles will resume their bitter rivalry in Thursday Night Footy at AAMI Park. Melbourne viewers can watch the game on Nine’s main channel in High Definition, with club legends Cameron Smith and Billy Slater in commentary.
Bragging rights are on the line in Macca’s Friday Night Football when the Titans meet the Broncos in a Queensland local derby. All eyes will be on Broncos try-scoring sensation Selwyn Cobbo as he charges towards a debut Maroons Origin jersey.
