Producer departing The Feed

"One of the best jobs I've ever had but I reckon it's time for something else," says Ben Jenkins.

Comedy producer Ben Jenkins is departing SBS news series The Feed.

He wrote on Twitter, “Some personal news. I’ll be leaving The Feed in a few weeks. Honestly one of the best jobs I’ve ever had but I reckon it’s time for something else. To be sincere for a second, what they’ve got going on at The Feed is incredibly, possibly scandalously rare.

“I really can’t think of anywhere else where comics are given that kind of freedom, even within the news-ish remit, to f*** around and figure out how to make good TV. And that’s a big shame! It’s a shame for comics and writers but it’s also a shame for TV in general because I honestly have no idea where people are meant to learn this stuff.

“Anyway, I’ll miss it. Vic and Jenna are true originals, forces of nature and very annoying. Bodie Smith is one of the best comedy editors in the country, and it was such a joy to work with Alex Lee on TV stuff again while she was still there.

“Thanks to everyone at SBS for making such a weird and unique little oasis in the desert of Australian TV. Not entirely sure what I’ll do next, but hopefully it’ll be as stupid and fun as the last two years.”

Jenkins, who has also written for The Chaser, Tonightly and At Home Alone Together, was part of the Feed team which won a 2021 AWGIE Award in the Sketch and Light Entertainment category.
