Returning: Five Bedrooms

Season 2 gets its Free to Air premiere on 10 later this month.

Season 2 of Five Bedrooms gets its Free to Air premiere on 10 later this month.

The season (and a further 3rd season) has screened on Paramount+.

This surrogate family are more fiercely loving and functional than your average biological clan. The arrangement that began as a risky short-term solution is now an empirical success, a genuine long-term prospect, and maybe even a preferable version of family and life?

There’s the fallen socialite, Liz (Kat Stewart), laconic tradie, Ben (Stephen Peacocke), firecracker middle-aged mum, Heather (Doris Younane), cautious doctor, Harry (Roy Joseph) and tragic romantic, Ainsley (Katie Robertson).

This group of five misfits first found each other at an all-too-familiar setting, the dreaded singles’ table at a wedding, where liquid courage gave them the ballsy bravado to pitch in and buy a house together. A communal approach to Australia’s property crisis, they split the impossible cost of homeownership five ways.

Season two of Five Bedrooms dives hard into themes that resonate globally. There’s a new home, a DIY renovation, a DIY renovation injury, two pregnancies, an ex-husband, a workplace bullying complaint, an unexpected tragedy, love found and love lost.

8:30pm Wednesday, 25 May on 10.

  1. Fantastic news! Absolutely loved season 1 of Five Bedrooms and so glad it’s finally on Free To Air. Hopefully Season 3 will be on soon too.

  2. I concur with all other comments, great to see it now available on Free-to-air! I still think the Drama points system is flawed and despite the cost Australian stories need to be freely available to the wider Australian audiences, not just on the government funded ABC who are dedicated to telling a range of Australian stories often!

  3. Not surprised by this at all. In fact, I said as much in a reader’s comment (posted a year ago today!) on a TVT post about 10 changing their Five Bedrooms strategy.. ‘Wouldn’t be surprised if S2 streams on Paramount+ in August 2021 and then airs on Channel 10 in June/July 2022..’ May 25 is practically like June.. maybe I should invoice 10/Paramount a consultancy fee 😉

  4. Absolutely loved the first season on Ten. I wasn’t paying for a subscription to watch it though so glad to finally watch it on FTA can’t wait.
It was in drama terms a bit for Ten can’t believe they shafted it to try and gain subscriptions.

  5. Good to see the long awaited second season getting its FTA airing. Can’t wait to watch it (I didn’t watch it on Paramount+ as there is too many streaming sites to purchase) as I loved the first season.
