2022 Gold Logie nominee: Karl Stefanovic

All this week TV Tonight is showcasing the Gold Logie nominees,  in their quest for your vote.

First Gold nominee is Today‘s Karl Stefanovic.

How does it feel to be a Gold Logie nominee for 2022?
KS: I think it’s always a massive honour. And it’s been a long time between drinks! It’s the Logies, so it’s important for the industry to come together and very satisfying to be nominated in that category. I never thought that would happen again.

What’s been the highlight of your TV work over the past year?
KS: I think it’s been a very difficult time in television. It’s been a difficult time in the world, with the pandemic and coming out of that with a lot of horrific stories happening around the world. I think the balance between entertainment and fun and the serious stuff that’s gone on has been incredibly challenging. Even just coming to work has been challenging at times with the pandemic. So, to be able to have got to air some mornings was a real feat in itself. And, I think most of the industry and how they have come through this is a real testament to how vibrant and how wonderful the industry is.

Give us your best campaign lobbying… why should viewers vote for you?
KS: Well, because I think everyone needs to see me the next day on The Today Show to see how I scrub up after I win. Actually, it will be the same if I don’t!

If not you… then who?
KS: Well, I’d like to see Hamish Blake take it out – the Mike Cannon-Brookes of television in this country. He is an awesome guy and I can’t say anything else because I’m Channel 9!
