Teacher’s Pet the miniseries?

Small screen adaptation has been proposed to dramatise the hit true crime podcast.

This week it was reported that US production giant Blumhouse (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge) has struck a deal with News Corp for a TV adaptation based on the hit true crime podcast, The Teacher’s Pet.

The details emerged during the court case as series creator Hedley Thomas was pressed on trying to woo witnesses with promises of walking the red carpet amid speculation around names such as Hugh Jackman and Joel Edgerton.

The defence’s case accuses Thomas of corrupting witnesses against Chris Dawson, who has pleaded not guilty to killing Lynette Dawson in 1982.

“Have you offered any parts to any of the people [who] gave evidence in this court?” Dawson’s barrister Pauline David asked.

Thomas: “I have no parts to offer, no.”

He said he did not “have deals” but there was a publishing agreement and the proposed miniseries.

Thomas argued the conversations was just banter, with interviews for his podcast happening long before any contract came about and that witnesses were “intelligent people with their own independent minds”.
