Beauty & the Geek contestant apologises after drink driving conviction

Reality TV participant regrets her actions after a high range drink driving incident last year.

Upcoming Beauty and the Geek contestant Emily McCarthy, has apologised after drink driving conviction.

McCarthy, 25, was charged with high range drink driving in November last year after she blew 0.168 in a roadside breath test.

“The accused stated she had recently finished an alcoholic beverage at the Gymea Hotel 20 minutes prior to being stopped by police,” police state.

The Daily Telegraph reports a roadside breath test initially returned a result of 0.210 – more than four times the legal limit.

McCarthy was then arrested and taken to Kogarah police station for a breath analysis, which returned a result of 0.168 at 2.03am – more than an hour after she was initially pulled over.

She was then charged with high range drink driving and her licence was suspended on the spot.

In January she pleaded guilty to the offence and was convicted and fined $500.

She was also disqualified from driving for six months from the date she was suspended, and will be subject to an interlock licence for two years during which her car will not start unless she blows a zero blood alcohol limit.

“I deeply regret my decision and take full responsibility for my actions,” McCarthy said.

“I accepted the court outcome and this has been a huge learning for me and something I will never do again.”

It’s not clear when the incident took place in relation to filming.
