Binge increases cost of Standard subscription

Standard subscription is rising from $14 to $16 a month.

Binge is increasing the price of its Standard subscription from $14 to $16 a month.

The Standard subscription in HD allows for two streams.

The entry level Basic Subscription ($10) and Premium ($18 for 4 streams) is not increasing.

“This is the first change to Binge’s pricing since the service launched two years ago. The new pricing for the Standard 2 stream tier reflects the value of the second stream and ongoing investment in the Binge product,” it said in a statement.

All impacted customers will be notified of the change via email or when signing up.

New pricing takes effect from Friday August 5, lifting before the arrival of House of the Dragon on August 22.

  1. Got the price hike email today. Annoyingly it doesn’t have a SmartTV app that works on my TV. Plus it constantly freezes. It does have some great HBO shows and older movies, so when I scroll through Netflix and see nothing of interest I can usually find something to watch on Binge via my PC.

  2. Binge is a terrible service. I signed up but couldn’t anything to my taste and didn’t offer subtitles to some shows so cancelled. They tried to lure me back. Didn’t work. Plus their Samsung tv all is dreadful.

  3. But still no 4k option. I thought that House of the Dragon would be the perfect time to introduce it, and they could potentially make more revenue through a higher price point.
