Origin III breaks Live streaming BVOD record

463,000 people watched the big match Live on 9Now.

State of Origin III has broken records for Live streaming of Broadcast Video on Demand.

The match drew a record BVOD Live average audience of 463,000, up 74% year-on-year, making it the highest ever live streaming event in Australian TV history.

The Origin matches are now the three highest BVOD live figures (Game 1: 425,000 / Game 2: 393,000 / Game 3: 463,000) of all time across all broadcasters.

“Congratulations to the NRL and the players involved in last night’s State of Origin Decider,” said Brent Williams, Nine’s Director of Sport. “It provided edge of your seat entertainment and captivated the nation, proving once again that Origin is a sporting event without rival in this country.

“To break the record for highest live streamed event in Australia not once, but twice, in the same series is an incredible achievement.”

Combining Metro: 1.792m / Regional: 793,000 and a Live BVOD figure of 463,000 the TotalTV audience is 3.048 million viewers.

“The growing scale of 9Now live audiences is now consistently delivering year on year total television audience growth for Nine across our key programming events,” said Mike Sneesby, Nine’s Chief Executive Officer. “Last night’s Origin decider wrapped up a series that has seen the biggest audiences since 2019. Growth in live streaming on 9Now has accelerated, with record numbers of fans choosing to live stream the series.”
