Call for Entries: Screenworks Regional Screen in LA Program

Development initiative offers Hollywood access to a screen practitioner -creative or crew- from regional Australia.

Screenworks and Australians In Film have announced that a third year of the Screenworks Regional Screen in LA Program is open for applications.

After being put on hold due to Covid, the program has returned to offer unparalleled Hollywood access to a film/TV practitioner (creative or crew) from regional Australia interested in progressing their career with an international perspective.

“Screenworks is delighted to be partnering with Australians in Film for the third year of our Regional Screen In LA Program,” said Screenworks CEO, Ken Crouch. “Screen practitioners living in regional Australia simply do not have the same opportunities as those living in the metropolitan centres, especially when exploring overseas avenues. This opportunity will provide an invaluable pathway for an emerging regional practitioner to get international experience, make connections in the US and benefit the industry here in Australia.”

“Screenworks has created vital and impressive career pathways for regional screen professionals, and AiF are again excited to be working with Ken, Jeanie and the entire Screenworks team in delivering this incredible international opportunity for a passionate and motivated screen creative. We look forward to opening doors here in Los Angeles for the lucky recipient,” said Peter Ritchie, Executive Director of Australians in Film.

This annual program offers an exciting professional development opportunity for emerging professional creative or crew practitioners living in regional Australia. The successful recipient will be able to gain an unparalleled professional development opportunity in Los Angeles, with the program open to emerging screen practitioners who demonstrate significant potential and passion in their area of expertise.

Applicants are required to provide a plan of what they would like to achieve during a 4-week residence in Los Angeles and how this will assist them in achieving their career goals. The experience will be tailored to the successful recipient’s particular field of interest and career development ambitions. This year, applications are encouraged from both above-the-line and below-the-line screen practitioners.

The successful recipient will receive a return economy airfare to Los Angeles for the recipient in addition to regional flights/transport in Australia plus support with preparation in the lead-up to the residency in Los Angeles. Australians in Film will provide support and access while working in Los Angeles for four weeks, plus pre-recommendations, LA industry support and networking.

Applications open on 23rd August 2022 and will close at 5pm (AEST) on Friday 23 September 2022.

All talented filmmakers are encouraged to apply regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or disability status.
