Fran Kelly to host ABC chat show, Frankly.

Former RN Breakfast host to front a new Friday night chat show with a studio audience and a house rock band.

Fran Kelly will front a brand new ABC chat show coming to Friday nights later this year, Frankly.

Production is underway on the new series fronted by the former RN Breakfast host, which will be filmed in front of a studio audience, along with a house rock band.

The series will feature international and home-grown actors, Aussie musicians, comedians, big thinkers and change-makers.

“I’m so excited about this new show. Leaving RN Breakfast was bittersweet… I’m loving the sleep-ins but missing all those incredible conversations with fabulous guests from around Australia and the world. People have been asking ever since what’s next for me. Well this is it and I can’t wait. More great conversations, a live audience and my own band… what’s not to be excited about? It’s such a privilege and going to be so much fun,” she said.

Head of ABC Entertainment Nick Hayden said, “Fran brings such a warmth and depth of intelligence we couldn’t be more excited to invite the audience in to hear her chat with the most interesting and electrifying people on the planet.”

Frankly is an ABC Entertainment production.

  1. This is a top idea especially supporting talent who have had a few hard years. We just need the ABC to allocate enough time for the program to breathe. Adam Hills In Gordon Street Tonight was good but too tight….give the guests time to speak and chill similar to the Don Lane Show or the Big Gig.

      1. I couldn’t see a program like that in such a slot-more mid/late timeslot-it’s been many years since they last did a variety/chat show, relying instead on UK imports in the genre.

      2. Hmm, 6 weeks seems a short run for a high profile talent such as Fran. Or maybe shorter program runs is what she is after; I recall she sat in with Greg Jennett on the Afternoon Briefing interview show during the federal election campaign for 6 weeks. I wonder what else will she be doing afterwards?
