Georgie Tunny swaps Flash for The Project

After filling in for Carrie Bickmore, Georgie Tunny becomes a permanent member of 10 news show.

Georgie Tunny is departing News Corp streaming platform Flash for a permanent role at The Project, producing and reporting stories and presenting as required.

The former ABC News Breakfast presenter joined news streaming sevice Flash when it launched last October. She filled in for Carrie Bickmore, along with Chrissie Swan, when Bickmore took leave in April.

A 10 spokesperson told news.com.au: “The Project is excited to announce that broadcaster Georgie Tunny is joining the show in a permanent role.

“Georgie has done an exceptional job keeping the seat warm for Carrie while she took long service leave, and quickly became a loved and respected member of The Project team.”

“I’m really excited to take on this new role at The Project, which will see me develop further as a journalist and storyteller,” Tunny said.

“I’ve really loved working at Flash, a streaming service that allows Aussies to choose the way they consume their news. The team is so talented. I will keep cheering on the platform and will follow its success closely!”

Flash is yet to announce her replacement.

  1. Cool. I love Georgie. She seems lovely and she is engaged to Rob Mills.
So basically and literally Gorgi (Coghlan) is being replaced with Georgie (Tunny).
It has been a while since Gorgi has stepped down from The Project and a
variety of people have filled in. It’s good to see a permanent fill in.
And Georgie is a great interviewer.

      1. On Fridays, Lisa was Gorgi’s replacement, but I meant as a main female fill-in Sunday – Friday.
Filling in for both Carrie and Lisa. Apparently, Georgie has been hired full-time to report and
produce stories, as well as a regular fill-in for Carrie and Lisa. She will probably do celebrity
        interviews as well.
