New judges, hosts coming to Great Australian Bake Off.

Foxtel cooking contest will have a new look when it returns to LifeStyle.

Foxtel has renewed The Great Australian Bake Off for a new season and confirmed speculation around a new-look cast coming.

Maggie Beer and Matt Moran have both chosen to depart with Maggie wanting to dedicate more time to her foundation and business and Matt focusing on many of his other commitments.

Maggie Beer said: “I have had a wonderful five seasons because of the friendship that felt like family working with Matt, Claire, Mel and our crew, and I will always be part of the Bake Off family. I have however made the decision that it is time to take a break. It has been such a privilege to help mentor the fine baking talent we have in this country, and I look forward to seeing what sweet treats are in store for this upcoming season.”

Matt Moran said: “It’s been an incredible five seasons on The Great Australian Bake Off, working alongside my dear friend Maggie and Mel, and Claire, who made me laugh every day. Thank you to all the crew and contestants over the years, you’ve become such good friends of mine. I am now excited to focus on my own restaurants and some new projects. I wish the new cast and bakers all the best.”

Foxtel has also confirmed new hosts are set to join the series.

Marshall Heald, Executive Director of Foxtel Entertainment said: “We are incredibly grateful for the contribution the Bake Off team- judges Maggie and Matt and hosts Mel Buttle and Claire Hooper have made to establish the format in this country and to help make it the success it is for Foxtel. We look forward to sharing the new cast line-up in coming weeks ahead of production.”

Filming will commence in Sydney in the coming month with BBC Studios Production as twelve hopeful amateur bakers compete for the title of Australia’s best amateur baker.

  1. I will say when Great British Bake Off moved to Channel 4 with two new hosts and a new judge it has gotten better. Also the Canadian Bake Off is worth watching to.

  2. It’s a shame that Matt and Maggie have left they made the show great for some reason i have a feeling that Gary mehigan will be one of the judges it will be interesting to see how it rates with the new judges

  3. Um… I don’t know what to say. I’m actually shocked. I’m now dubious going forward. A huge part of what made the show magical and such a joy to watch was the four of them working together.
I recently watched the Kiwi version and was stunned by how less of a show it was imo. And it all come down to the judges and the hosts. I wasn’t a fan. Plus I might be bias, but I thought the contestants’ finished products severely paled in comparison to ours. Like real amateur hour (yes I know their amateurs but still!).
I will tread lightly until I find out the new personnel.
