Seven rumoured to have secured 2023 Logie Awards

Seven set to screen Logies for the first time in over 25 years?

TV Tonight hears whispers that Seven network has secured the 2023 Logie Awards.

Seven has not broadcast the event since 1995 with Nine enjoying a run of over 25 years, and in recent years has had a prickly relationship with what some deemed as a Nine promotional vehicle.

This year’s event, the first in 3 years, drew strong ratings of 885,000 metro viewers and a 43.1% share for Nine.

Also yet to be confirmed is the location for 2023 with the current Gold Coast contract having expired, but likely to remain the front runner.

Seven and TV Week have both been contacted for comment.

  1. Please note I am not a huge fan of 9 network…only one I am not signed up to catch up…but, having said that, they seem to be the only ones to do the Logies successfully….with or without Bert…previous version on 7 and/or 10 have been awful…well for me.

  2. Agree that it should be moved around the networks more frequently.

If Seven does get the rights, I wonder if they’ll bring back a host. I hear that Sonia Kruger wants to host more programs at Seven. Lol.

  3. Hopefully if Seven are the new home (or even if Nine retain) a decent re-boot is most definitely in order. Way, way too long and needs some fresh ideas, IMHO! 🙂

  4. I always wondered why this was not rotated around at least the 3 commercial networks and possibly ABC as well (I think SBS is a bridge too far). One of the keys to the logies success is cooperation of all the networks after all.

    1. Based on the Logies Wikipedia page, it was shared around the three commercial networks from 1981 and 1995. Alternating between 7 and 9 untile 1988 and then two rotations of Seven, Ten and Nine, and then seven again.
But then back to 9 from 1996. In the early years it was on the ABC a few times. Maybe it was something to do with Bert or it was an agreement between TV Week and Nine. But TV Week has a lesser role in the Logies now, so maybe that’s why it is now more free. Just my assumptions.
