David Koch sticks with Sunrise to 2024

Contract extended for two more years offers Sunrise host more flexibility for time off.

David Koch will stay with Seven’s Sunrise until at least the end of 2024.

The Australian reports his contract secured by Seven West chief executive James Warburton, includes greater flexibility that will allow him to take more breaks from the show.

“After 20 years, I’ve felt I needed more flexibility in my life with my wife Libby and my business interests,” Koch said. “So when I mentioned leaving to Seven, James very kindly asked me whether we could work together on a plan that I wanted, which also kept my connection to the network and my focus on Sunrise.”

Chairman Kerry Stokes also played a pivotal role in discussions in recent weeks.

“I’m grateful to James and Kerry Stokes that they approached it this way,” he said.

“I’ve had long chats with both of them, and they asked me is there a way to come up with a plan that gives you the flexibility you want, and gives you a connection to the network and a continuing focus on Sunrise. I love it dearly. So I’m really fortunate to have the best of all worlds.”

Koch runs business streaming service ausbiz TV, production company Pinstripe Media and is Chairman of Port Adelaide Football Club.

Sunrise will again win another year in the ferocious Breakfast battle over Today and News Breakfast.
