An asbestos find at shoot in Malaysia causes delays to filming, but Seven reality show is still expected to premiere on time in 2023.

EXCLUSIVE:

Seven’s upcoming reality series Million Dollar island has hit a production delay.

TV Tonight understands an asbestos find at the site in Malaysia has led to a halt in filming.

A spokesperson from Eureka Productions told TV Tonight. “While some delays have occurred in the pre-production phase of Australia’s version of Million Dollar Island, the show continues to move forward.”

Seven sources indicated the delays would not impact on its planned premiere in 2023.

Brreathing in asbestos fibers may increase the risk of several serious diseases, including asbestosis, mesothelioma and lung cancer and can increase ther risk for cancers of the digestive system, including colon cancer.

Million Dollar Island, created by a Dutch format produced by John De Mol’s Talpa, sees 100 contestants compete over 50 days for the chance to win $1 million. Seven’s production is hosted by Ant Middleton, previously fronting SAS Australia.
