  1. I received an email offering me an exclusive preview ahead of the TV showing….but I am afraid even that did not tempt me….the ads were enough of a turnoff ….but then I am not young…

  2. Good, Ten do not deserve higher ratings due to their predictable, lazy and unoriginal production of this show! Ok its only one episode in but they could have made this show with some point of difference from other dating shows, admittedly i only saw the promos & about 1/2 hr of the show but see no originality so far. They could have made it more fun by eg using some of the boat theme in games for the contestants like…..no no, i am not going to give any producers reading this free ideas lol.

I honestly do not know if that would result in higher ratings but at least they could say they really tried something new. Ten even managed to ruin ‘First Dates Australia’ which was imho a really fun show for the most part when it was on 7.

  3. Predictable. This felt like an inevitable flop the moment it was announced and even more so as details (or lack of) emerged.

Feels like a format forced on 10 by CBS, similar to The Challenge which will inevitably flop as well.

  4. Have to give credit to channel 10. There trying new things, yes their failing but at least there trying. Also let not forget, for some reason channel 10 always fighting an up hill battle, compare to the other stations.

  5. Channel 10 will not lose any sleep on the response to The Real Love Boat.

They receive money/”benefits” from the cruise liner to do this semi-advertorial show – whatever the ratings.

308,000 last Tuesday for the far costlier The Amazing Race Australia – that’s another story.

  6. Oh it was on last night? There you see, without Neighbours, I’m not watching 10 regularly enough to be reminded. I’m not a reality fan, but I would have checked it out.

  7. I predict that TRLB will mvoe to 10Peach in the wake of disastrous ratings. This sort of result was a complete disaster. This year, we’ve seen the failures of Brain Eistedfod and now TRLB.
But at the end of the day, it all comes down to viewership in the first two eps.

  8. Lol wow ,I said 317K last night so I was way too generous, but of course TEN will say their happy with the demographics as usual ,if I was ViacomCbs I’d be very worried about the position of this network.

    1. I have a theory that RLB was cheep to produced – while the numbers and reaction were bad, the show was produced in conjunction with an American version (also airing now) and I suspect that the series is sponsored heavily by the cruse line

It’s one and done for sure, but it should not impact 10’s bottom line as much as any other failed season.

  9. I think the figures of love boat were to the surprise of no one! Who in their right mind wanted that show to be made? 10 are in a bit of strife as they’ve had so many more misses than hits. In general I think dating is the new cooking and renovation, just chuck it on the pile of worn out formats (although the block just keeps on keeping on!).

    1. Paramount who have created it and franchised The Real Love Boat and used it to try and reshow The Love Boat. There’s no reason why it had to be worse than any of the other trashy dating shows. Won’t know how bad it is until we see streaming figures. I only watched My Life Is Murder which has moved to Auckland and is prettier, which is a good thing because there is nothing else to it. They badly need to find someone who can write a proper murder mystery. GS1 dies before the credits, GS2 is wrongly arrested, Alexa bakes bread while Madison hacks something and exposes GS3, same plot every episode. The best actor in it is still the cat. Even Rosemary and Thyme is better.

  10. Let’s not right it off just yet. Streaming on 10Play may bring in enough young viewers to keep it afloat. I’m sure 10 are bombarding social media platforms.
