10 confirms MasterChef: Dessert Masters hosts

Melissa Leong to be joined by French chef Amaury Guichon in spin-off series.

10 has confirmed Melissa Leong and international chef Amaury Guichon as judges for MasterChef: Dessert Masters.

Cannes-born pastry chef, Amaury Guichon, is Netflix series, School of Chocolate. At 21, he was hired as the youngest executive pastry chef in Paris. Now at 31 he boasts a 17-year career in pastry and He has amassed over 50 million followers across social media.

“I feel very honoured to have been chosen to be part of this wonderful new adventure that will once again highlight our beautiful industry with all its craft and complexity. I am excited to discover what the contestants will create in order to wow us!” he said.

Melissa Leong said: “Desserts have the capacity to be magical. I’m excited to see what these talented chefs are capable of when let loose in the MasterChef kitchen.

“Creating a memorable dessert takes years of practice, technique and an exacting eye for detail. Throw people with these qualities into a place like the MasterChef kitchen and stand back… who knows what they will bring to life.”

10 has previously screened spin-off editions including Celebrity MasterChef, Junior MasterChef, MasterChef: The Professionals and MasterChef: All Stars.

Offering $100,000 prize, the ‘short run’ series is expected to feature well-known names in pastry, desserts and all things sweet, when it screens later this year.

  1. Why bring in an overseas chef when Australia has talented dessert chefs such as Adriano Zumbo for example. I can’t get my head around the fact most reality shows have to get overseas “talent” to boost ratings and get people to watch. This country has an abundance of talented people who are perfectly qualified to judge. I guess “international” is the go too now….

  2. Providing Amaury is present through the whole series, then this is a huge get for 10. I’ve watched gifs of his work for the last few years now and he is insanely talented in what he can do with chocolate (well I figure he is, I don’t know much about the world of chocolate sculpting) If he shares clips via his socials, that will provide a huge boost to a pretty tired show looking to reinvent itself every year. This one just might work!
