Frasier sequel confirmed for Paramount+

Paramount+ confirms Australian rights for the series with Kelsey Grammer returning to Frasier Crane.

Frasier has re-entered the building!

As expected Paramount+ has now confirmed Australian screening rights for the new Frasier series, starring and executive produced by Kelsey Grammer.

Production began this week in front of a live studio audience in Los Angeles. The series follows Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston, with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.

The first two episodes will also be directed by legendary director James Burrows (Cheers, Frasier, Will & Grace, Friends, Wings, Night Court, Taxi and Dear John).

The series also stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor, Alan; Toks Olagundoye as Alan’s colleague and head of the university psychology department, Olivia; Jess Salguerio as Freddy’s roommate, Eve; and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew, David.

A broadcast date is yet to be confirmed.

Goodnight Boston!

Frasier comes from writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life In Pieces), who executive produce with Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Grammer’s Grammnet NH Productions.

  1. I’m surprised Frasier’s son Freddy isn’t called Eddie to honour Martin and the late Eddie himself. I’d love to know who inherited “The Chair” though.

    1. That wouldn’t make sense since Frasier’s son, Freddie (or Frederick), was born during Cheers, prior to the start of the original Frasier show. I do agree it would be nice for them to honour Martin (or John Mahoney) in some way though.
