Seven News shakes up Euro, US bureaus.

Ashlee Mullany heads from US to UK base, David Woiwod becomes US Bureau Chief and Mylee Hogan will head to the USA.

Seven News has confirmed changes to European and US bureaus.

Starting in August, US Bureau Chief Ashlee Mullany (pictured) becomes Europe correspondent based in London while current Europe correspondent Sarah Greenhalgh remains with Seven with a new role to be announced later this year. Hugh Whitfeld remains Europe Bureau Chief.

David Woiwod, currently US correspondent, will take over as US Bureau Chief in May. Sydney-based Mylee Hogan will also join correspondent Tim Lester in the US.

Network director of News and Public affairs Craig McPherson said, “The strength of our bureaus has been fundamental in the success of 7NEWS and all our on-air programming.

“These changes ensure our viewers will continue to receive the very best coverage of world events, wherever and whenever they occur.”

  1. Ashlee demoted, that’s what it reads/sounds like? Ouch of sorts. Whereas a promotion for Woiwod (who I’ve been impressed by way back at 10 as State Political Editor under Mal Walden including breaking into programming late one night Premier Bailieu went).

    1. Given the type of reporting Sarah has done in her time as senior correspondent in Europe, including Ukraine and Turkey, I’d say Ashlee’s posting to Europe is not necessarily a demotion.

Sarah has done double the time that Laurel Irving did in the UK previously and that the likes of Amelia Brace and Paul Kadak did in the US, where they seemed to have the reporters on 2 year rotations. Hopefully they have a good role lined up for her back home.

    1. +2. Mylee has been put through her paces and has delivered the goods. I also want to pay homage to the enormously talented NSW State Political Reporter Amelia Brace. She is an asset to the Seven News brand and she is a journalist I have a lot of faith in. She presents the facts and allows us, the viewer to make an informed opinion. Much respect to both the lovely ladies.
