The 1% Club: promo

Jim Jefferies wants to know if you are smarter than 99% of the population?

Seven is teasing upcoming game show The 1% Club which tests its contestants to see if they are smarter than 99% of the population for a $100,000 prize.

Produced by BBC Studios ANZ the show is hosted by Aussie comedian Jim Jefferies, and based on a format created by Magnum Media.

An airdate is yet to be announced but it is now expected to screen in Q2.

A game show like no other, The 1% Club promises to deliver an entertaining and hilarious experience as people of all ages and backgrounds find out if they are of the first order. Unlike most quizzes, general knowledge isn’t what it takes to excel, but logic and common sense.

Australian comedian Jim Jefferies brings his trademark wit as host, injecting each episode with a healthy dose of laughter. The perfect fit for this boundary-pushing quiz show, Jefferies is known for his irreverent style and ability to find humour in even the most controversial topics.

One hundred contestants begin every show, but to make it to the end and win the top prize, contestants must correctly answer a question only 1% of the country would get right. Navigating wordplays, everyday facts and pop culture references, contestants are first asked a question that 90% of the country got right (based on a sample of answers given by people across Australia) and then progress to questions that smaller and smaller percentages answered correctly.

To get to the end, and have their shot at up to $100,000, contestants will have to bring their A-game to win big and join the elite ranks of the 1%.

  1. I watch a clip of the English version with Lee Mack and one question was how many triangles inside a triangle, so I tracked a maths picture of it down and sent it via text to a friend. It was hilarious the answer I got but he was still wrong so I encouraged him to have another look and the answers got even more complicated, after numerous scenarios and many text it became so painful “I” caved in and told him the answer instead. I’m so looking forward to the Australian version, anything’s better than watching someone walzing down the aisle to meet a stranger.
