Foxtel to drop beIN SPORTS channels

Euro sports specialist will no longer be on Foxtel platform from July 1st.

beIN SPORTS  (Ch. 513, 514 and 515) will be dropped by Foxtel and Kayo after June 30th, ending 7 years on the Foxtel platform.

The move follows the Qatari-owned provider recently losing the rights to International Rugby, Six Nations Rugby, Champions League and LaLiga.

A Foxtel Group spokesperson said, “As part of our constant evaluation of programming and channels, we have made the decision not to renew our partnership with beIN Sports. Our beIN SPORTS channels will be available to customers until 30 June 2023. We continue be the home of Australia’s biggest and fastest growing sports including NRL, AFL, Cricket, Netball, NBL, Motorsports and many others which we distribute through a wide variety of channels across Foxtel and stream on Kayo Sports. Our Foxtel customers also now have access to even more sporting content with the recent introduction of Optus Sport and Paramount + onto iQ set top boxes.”

Optus Sports, home to Premier League, Barclays Women’s Super League, Spain’s LaLiga, J.League and tournaments such as the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 and UEFA Euro 2024, is available on IQ4 and IQ5 boxes, but at a monthly subscription fee of $24.99 ($6.99 for Optus customers).

Elsewhere, a BeIN SPORTS Connect sub retails at $19.99 per month (1 week free trial).

  1. Well this is a great disappointment to tennis fans. Foxtel Kayo keep making their service less desirable. The SPorts viewing in Australia is becoming problematic.

  2. Makes my decision about whether to keep Foxtel after I finish watching Unforgotten easy. The major sports like tennis and rugby have always been broadcast somewhere before beIN bought rights. But they will likely be scattered across ESPN, Stan Sports, Paramount+, Optus Sports, Kayo and possibly Telstra. Which is too much of a hassle and expense for me to bother following them there.

  3. I wonder what will happen to HSBC World Rugby 7’s. If Stan isn’t interested or if the rights are tied up elsewhere World Rugby will lose another attraction in Australia, Rugby Australia needs to keep dedicated fans interested.

  4. Why would anyone stay with Foxtel box etc , way overpriced now even more with no Bein and for absolute garbage on every channel.Get Kayo if your just interested in sports.
Cant believe people fork out big $$$$ to Them to pay for their Sky Channel people.

    1. I believe in complaining and letting Foxtel know how I feel when I’m playing for their service. I’ve found them to be responsible and they’ve offered several goodwill gestures past and present which I have accepted. My philosophy is if you don’t complain to a company big or small they will probably keep doing the same thing, or they are not aware the customer is not best pleased and someone needs to hold them accountable for what they advertise or say. Companies are big on feedback and reviews nowadays even though I don’t do either but place a genuine complaint instead which personally works best for me. They might even think I’m a pain but I’m okay with that too.

      1. I already did complain to them via their social media and then I sent feedback via their website, all they said to me was there was nothing they can do as I already have an offer on my account. They could remove the offer and then give me a $3 decrease. What annoys me, is a made an agreement with them in March for a 12mth period on $59 for sport and basic, they said this agreement wasn’t a contract and will have the $3 increase. I think this is totally wrong and not acceptable. I know it’s only $3 but it’s the principle.

        1. I’m sorry to hear that’s happened to you. That’s not acceptable and that’s big business unfortunately. But I never complain via social media, I ring them up explain I’m not happy and if the operator (in the call centre) starts with the usual “speal” I tell them I’m not happy with their particular response and I ask to speak to their supervisor here in Australia which I have found to be more responsive. Then when we come to an agreement I request it be sent via email to me. I also follow through with an email to the Customer Enquiries and Foxtel Enquiries which are 2 separate divisions and 2 separate email addresses and I get a return email with a follow up. As a retired CPA dealing with various businesses I love a paper trail and I admit I’m like a dog with a bone….I don’t given up…that’s the secret I believe when dealing with big companies…off topic though I’m probably the supermarket and Bunnings worst nightmare too.😂

          1. Thanks for the advice, I think I might call them. As mentioned what annoys me is I agreed to a price for 12mths and then they go and do this.

  5. Tennis will be completely gone from Kayo so I’ll no longer be subscribing. Sad because I’ve heard from other people that the beIN subscription is quite laggy.
