Nine pulls Everest doco

Nat Geo doco was due to screen on Tuesday but now out following the death of an Australian trekker at Everest.

Nine has yanked a National Geographic documentary from its Tuesday schedule.

Lost on Everest was originally scheduled to follow The Summit tomorrow night. But news reports today of the tragic death of an Australian Everest trekker, Jason Bernard Kennison, on Friday, appear to have led to a scheduling change.

It has now replaced with a repeat of Million Dollar Murders, “Colalteral Damage” at 8:45pm.

Mr. Kennison was the 10th fatality on the world’s highest peak this climbing season.

“It is with absolute broken hearts that our dearly beloved brother, son, cousin, friend sadly passed away on Friday 19th climbing Mt Everest,” a family post to Facebook read.

“He achieved his goal of reaching the peak … he stood on top of the world but sadly didn’t come home. He was the most courageous, adventurous human we knew and he will be forever missed. We love you so much.”

  1. Networks, particularly Nine for some freakish reason, seem to always be good at doing this, can bet would definitely be noticed by some if it aired and they’d be in uproar over ‘poor taste’ or ‘poor timing’ (not realising how advanced programming works).

I remember when they also pulled early 90s thriller “Blown Away” starring Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones the days of the Lindt Cafe Siege, as well as “Jaws” following shark attacks at least a couple of times, among more.
