Apple TV+ has renewed Foundation, based on the works of Issac Asimov, for a third season.
Showrunner David S. Goyer said, “I’m thrilled Apple has given us the opportunity to continue chronicling Asimov’s pioneering galactic saga. This time, the stakes for Foundation and Empire are even higher as the Mule takes center stage, along with fan-favorites Bayta,Toran, Ebling, and Magnifico Giganticus.”
“We have all been incredibly impressed with the ambitious, action-packed and imaginative adaptation that David and the rest of this gifted creative team and cast have brought to life with this premium sci-fi series from day one,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “To watch Foundation become such a global hit has been beyond exciting with audiences around the world continuing to be captivated week after week by this dramatic and compelling journey to save humanity. We can’t wait for everyone to experience what is in store for characters old and new in season three.”

Being a fan of the books I often get frustrated/angry with what they have done. But I agree with others it is often good but not for long enough. I look forward to the next season.
Barring a dog’s breakfast of a show it would have been a safe bet for Apple+ to fund production of Foundation to it’s full conclusion (whatever that may be). If you are a fan of Isaac Asimov books you will see the artistic license used by David S. Goyer & Josh Friedman recreating Foundation to make this show, but for average SciFi fans it is arguably one of the better scripted big budget productions released to date along with For All Mankind. Apple+ is setting the standard for TV sci-fi drama in recent times.
I assume strikes is why this wasn’t announced sooner. This show is frustrating in that when it is good, it’s absolutely excellent. Then often it’s, “it’s fine.” Lee Pace absolutely is fantastic in it though. Often some odd choices in story and narrative where I think the writers don’t fully justify what happens story wise.
Still a very good show to watch though.
This sums it up so well… just isn’t good enough for long enough.
