Airdate: Matildas v Canada friendly

Matildas meet Canada in a friendly game early on Sunday morning, Australian time.

An early morning match in Spain between the Matildas and Canada will screen on Paramount+ on Sunday, ahead of the Aussies’ road to the 2024 Olympic Games.

Hosts and experts Tara Rushton, Grace Gill, Teo Pellizzeri, and Andy Harper preview the game from 4.30am, before kick-off at 5.00am AEST.

With both nations set to take part in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, Australia and Canada will go head-to-head in Marbella, where both nations will be situated for their pre-Olympic training camps.

Australia (current world number 12) and Canada (current world number 8) last met on 6 December 2023 with the Canadians recording a tight 1-0 victory at BC Place in Vancouver. This will be the Tillies’ last opportunity to warm up before the Games, and by taking on such a formidable opponent, fans will get a look behind the scenes as the Matildas solidify their playing partnerships and strategy for the coming weeks.

  1. The hypocrisy of FTA laid bare. Campaign for sporting rights to be offered to FTA networks first, for cheap and then they quietly push it to their own paid streaming platforms. 9 does the same with Stan Sports.

    They’re also after your money – atleast Foxtel, Fetch or Prime have the decency to not lie to you.

  2. Didn’t Free TV just finish a campaign telling Australians that they deserve to see sports for free – big streamers bad. And yet here is Channel 10s owner, having one of the very sports they were passionate about Australians seeing for free, on a streaming only service.
