There were some close battles on Sunday night, especially in 6pm news.
Travel Guides topped entertainment at 1.19m viewers in National TV Audience.
That was ahead of Dancing with the Stars‘ return at 938,000 -but Seven still won the night overall.
From 7:30pm MasterChef Australia drew 654,000 then Spicks & Specks (613,000) and Austin (395,000).
Later 60 Minutes was 717,000 then after 8:30pm 7News Spotlight (612,000), Ladies in Black (315,000) and Tulsa King (201,000).
Seven News was #1 at 1.34m. The Latest (416,000) and Code 1: Minute by Minute (160,000) followed.
Nine News was hot on Seven’s heels at 1.32m then a repeat of The Murder of Lyn Dawson (337,000). Wimbledon averaged 222,000 / 174,000.
ABC News scored 824,000 then Antiques Roadshow (332,000) and The Split (127,000).
The Sunday Project managed 310,000 then 10 News First (304,000 / 241,000)Â and FBI (118,000).
On SBS it was Tour de France at 225,000 then SBS World News (213,000 / 125,000), Mesopotamia: The Rise of Cities (180,000) and Structures of Marvel: Medieval Paris (151,000).

I love Travel Guides….never been interested in traveling myself…but a happy armchair traveler.
I am forever shocked at how when DWTS was on 10 it was running at approximately 30-40% lower numbers than what it gets when it’s on 7.
Lead in shows are very important. Seven News v Project.
That’s a bit of a disappointing night for Seven, all those months of saturated promotion and “we expect DWTS will be our biggest show in 2024″… Ouch! I’m still looking forward to it, been one of my favourite TV shows in recent years (despite its 20 year age minus a year or two off air and Ten’s incarnation), usually catch-up on 7Plus. Travel Guides, essentially a filler, has been a masterstroke programming hit this year for Nine.
I have to say, you don’t miss a beat remembering that quote. I suspect Farmer will be top of their 24 list.
Great result for Travel Guides and well deserved. Have noticed the news gap between 7 and 9 is shinking. I guess with 7 News having a monoply in WA and SA, 9 News must be dominating in the eastern states.
I’d think Nine News are almost certainly dominating in Sydney at the moment, lesser websites than this one (so take them with a grain of salt!) have recently reported that lead presenter Mark Ferguson is expected to be off air during the Paris Olympics in favour of others being given a go.
Aside from the Mark Humphries comedy segments (the first of which is expected to air this Friday), there’s also been speculation about the possibility of – would you believe it – an astrology segment being incorporated into the bulletin. Come on, this isn’t New Idea or Woman’s Day!
Whatever the case, I suspect Michael Usher is reasonably likely to get the main chair before too long – especially with incoming Seven News Sydney director Sean Power just happening to be the person who also helped establish “The Latest” with Usher at the helm several years ago!
“an astrology segment”. Yep. Someone watched “Network” and said “hey, why didn’t I think of that?”.
Don’t think that reference was serious.
Sorry still can’t watch Travel Guides….. very cringe but honestly it will come down to catch up online as many shows as we know it helps ….
Totally agree, makes my skin crawl.
