Distinctive, colourful reporter Allan Raskall has been culled by Nine News Melbourne as part of cost-cutting.
Raskall, who has worked as a long-time freelancer with Nine since 2013, recently took to social media to seek new media opportunities.
“I’ve freelanced for more than a decade at Nine, I guess during a cost of living crisis even big business has to cut back on luxury items! Who knows what the future holds?” he told the Herald Sun.
A Nine Entertainment spokesman said he would always be a “much-loved member” of the Melbourne team.
“However, we are not immune from the economic challenges impacting the media sector. As such, we are pausing the use of casual staff in various parts of the business. We hope to work with Allan again in the future,” the spokesman said.
The versatile Raskall, a favourite of The Cheap Seats for embedding himself full-throttle into news stories, even recently took to the stage in the production Club Vegas.
His latest post suggests he may not be out of action for too long….
Must love dogs! 🐶

over the years Alan has worked at Channels 7 and 10 and also SBS
I really enjoy Alans stories, he makes me laugh. I actually would watch the news service that had him in it so maybe an opportunity for another station?
Sad, but probably not all that surprising.
The big question now: Are we about to hear that Mike Dalton (who’s basically the Sydney equivalent of Raskall) has been let go by Nine?
Hope a network snaps him up soon. He has such a great approach to his reporting. Unlike some of the reporters now who are dead pan whilst it seems they are reading off the auto prompt.
Sky might be a good fit for him
They move on a real talent due to costs yet persist with 2 newsreaders during weekdays and a weather person ( even on weekends) where these days you get more weather info off any weather app 🤷♀️
