House of the Dragon will have a fourth and final season.
During a press conference on Monday discussing the Season 2 finale, showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal revealed the prequel will include two more seasons, and will conclude with Season 4.
Condal also confirmed that the third season is currently being written, they will be doing prep for it in the US Fall, with the plan to go into production in “earlyish 2025.”
When asked whether Season 3 will also be eight episodes, Condal said: “I haven’t had discussions with HBO about it. I would just anticipate the cadence of the show, from a dramatic storytelling perspective, will continue to be the same from Season 2 on.”
Production on another Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is underway in Belfast, Ireland.

Watched the first season but not been inclined to watch the second.
This season was hit and miss but as a whole I didn’t mind it… yes a couple of storylines languished and there wasn’t really a lot happening in the finale (but I understand why cos [redacted getting redacted with super-duper redacted and redacted]).
There may or may not be anything in this, but I’ve heard in the last couple of days that shooting for season 3 may start in Spain as soon as late October. With A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms perhaps a year away … I hope it will fill the gap nicely and Season 3 is hopefully only a few months after that.
