Wow!
Australian born television icon Denise Drysdale was snubbed yet again.
And NZ born Rebecca Gibney won the Hall of Fame Award.
I am not saying Rebecca is an oustanding actress but this has to be one effing kick in the guts to Denise Drysdale and other Australian TV icons.
Most of Rebecca Gibney’s acting roles have been in Australia. She deserves to be in the hall of fame (actor and producer) but would’ve preferred Ding Dong this year.
I don’t actually see why Denise Drysdale is mentioned so often. Yes, she was fun and funny in a few shows, but I see a lot of other actors with a greater contribution over more years and more shows. Looking at Rebecca’s resume, she has been huge in the industry, in Australian shows, and displayed amazing versatility of performances. Well worthy, I think, and many others ahead of DD.
Denise Drysdale has been on TV since she was about 13 years old. Children’s shows, Christmas pantomimes, pop music shows, variety shows (in the ’70s, 80s, 90s), dramas, comedies/sitcoms, daytime shows (both on her own and co-hosting with others), panel/game shows, telethons, reality shows. And 2 Gold Logies. You could not find another living person who has clocked up more credits on Australian TV.
Rebecca Gibney’s induction into the Hall of Fame is well deserved on the back of a long career. No gripe against her at all, but Denise Drysdale has jumped through the hoops and was a TV veteran of 20 years before anyone had even heard of Rebecca Gibney. It’s pretty poor that TV Week has taken this long and still yet to give her the recognition. There have been other HoF inductees prior to this year that have not matched her contribution to TV.
I’ll watch Hunted then the logies.
The thing I find cringe is when people present an award together and try to be funny and it falls flat.
But looking forward to seeing the winners
I will record the program and watch it after Hunted to observe Pang’s performance. The only aspect that has become tiresome is the persistent promotion of Larry as the sole contender for the Gold Logie award from Channel 7. This promotion is evident on Sunrise, The Morning Show, the conclusion of the AFL, and through various banners during programming. While I primarily watch Channel 10, I have not observed a similar level of promotion for Robert or Julia in their pursuit of the Gold Logie. Consequently, I would prefer Larry not to win as a means of conveying a message to Channel 7. Furthermore, the advertisement featuring Ray and Larry should have included all the Gold Logie nominees to foster a sense of unity within the television industry.
Hopefully you will record the show after it as well as I find these days most shows on 7, 9 & 10 run over time
Already done that and they show after that just to make sure
Agree that I’m not that interested in watching with the changes this year…Hunted, Block and whatever’s on streaming definitely seem more interesting.
Oh the negativity here is so interesting …… the simple fact is if you don’t like them don’t watch them. If they are a joke they wouldn’t have been around for so long and continue to be on. It is a award show it will never finish on time.
FYI, producers tell me the show will conclude around 11:15 – 11:30pm (not 11 as EPG suggests).
It wouldn’t surprise me if it ended around Midnight
I know it’s hard to accurately predict because it’s live, and the ad-libs always go longer than planned, but it’s very frustrating that the EPG is so incorrect. They seem not to care that EPGs are used to trigger recordings, not for just this show, but everything following in the night. I assume it is deliberate to make people stay up thinking it’s almost over, whereas if they advertise the real finishing time (11:58pm) then people wouldn’t even bother.
Even more crazy is the following program (a repeat of the 1% Club) started a few minutes after midnight even though it was advertised to air between 11-11:59pm. Should have just gone straight to the next program and been back on schedule.
I have to agree with the above comments, I have no intention of watching
Most likely to catch up with the winner of the Gold and which ever female (Denise Drysdale *cough* ) for the Hall of Fame on YouTube
Agreed. I’d rather spend a few mins reading about the winners on the way to work tomorrow than spending hours watching them
I used to love the Logies, heck I even used to host parties for them! But I don’t know, with the changes they made this year, I’m just not into them, not even sure I will watch, which is a shame for TV’s night of nights
Well the Logies have been a joke for many many years, All the rule changes are designed to do is go back to the days when it was the major networks being the ones tell the same old joke.
