The Block leads in entertainment. But Made in Bondi plummets from a very big lead-in audience from The Voice.

Seven News was #1 at 1.34m with Home & Away high at 910,000 then The Chase (650,000). First Dates UK was 103,000.

Nine News averaged 1.26m with wins by A Current Affair (1.12m) and Tipping Point (703,000). In select markets was Trump vs. Harris: The Battle for America (239,000).

  1. Very predictable result for Made in Bondi which always seemed destined for a quick move to 7Flix. They probably should have launched it on 7+ instead where it’s audience probably would find it and it could be spun as a success. I’m guessing E4 in the UK is probably picking up the bill anyway – somehow Made in Chelsea has been going nearly 15 years now despite always being awful.

    1. They did drop the first 6 episodes (havent bothered to look if thats the whole first season) on 7plus in one go. I would figure if you found it there you would end up watching it there so it could be binged

  2. So pleased to see Made in Bondi flop. Silly Seven couldn’t even get cast from Bondi. Stupid stunt show that has got what it deserved. Hopefully the network revisits the type of shows it commissions in this wake of this garbage.

  3. I was so impressed that I watched 3 episodes last night and the other 3 this morning (there is also a 7th episode of behind rhe scenes stuff which I watched as well)
There was something that happened in the Hamish episode which made me tear up hard
I highly recommend this show and am glad of its ratings success

  4. The Assembly was beautiful. Bravo to Auntie and Bus Stop Films, as well as the young Journos and Sam Neal. I hope we see one or two of those young journo students get reporting work at the ABC. And won’t it be absolutely brilliant when one day we see shows being produced, written, directed, edited and presented exclusively by neurodiverse professionals for the national audience.

We’ve come a long way since Rainman.

      1. In my personal opinion at least, real progress when it comes to representing neurodiverse people in the Australian media will be made when some have prominent roles on (or at the very least in) commercial TV.

This of course, is nothing against the strides made in this area by the ABC and to a certain extent SBS during recent years. But although it mightn’t have been the case even ten years ago (the “thunderbolt” moment was probably that 2016 Lateline report which likely inspired the creation of a certain series), I’d think most who frequent the public broadcasters in 2024 are likely to be reasonably accepting of neurodiverse people.

Any neurodiverse Australian who is even half-passionate about television, surely has to agree that the struggle to gain acceptance and make a real impact in the industry will continue at least until Seven, Nine and Ten realise that autistic/ND people are among some of their best viewers.

  5. It’ll be interesting to see how The Assembly’s ratings go for the remainder of the series. But if it can avoid falling into the same ditch that Austin did, the ABC surely would have to consider doing a 2nd season next year?

As for Made in Bondi…surely, it’s only a matter of time before Seven bumps that show to 7Bravo?

  6. Slight typo David – H&A was 910k rather than 1.34m; another large margin for Sunrise. Assembly was fantastic. Simple idea and clearly who the guest is is critical and Sam Neal was fantastic.

      1. Made in Bondi should’ve been giving The Shire (Ten) vibes on conception. These types of shows aren’t for free to air. Gone next week.
