ABC Chief Content Officer Chris Oliver Taylor said: “Congratulations to our ABC Logie Award winners. Your success is a testament to the talent, hard work and creativity within the ABC and our partnerships with the best independent producers around the country.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to see our programs resonate so deeply with Australian audiences and we look forward to continuing to deliver the quality of programming that viewers love.”
ABC Director News Justin Stevens said: “Congratulations to all the ABC News finalists and winners for this well-deserved recognition of their work. It is a welcome acknowledgment of the huge amount of dedication, talent and hard work that goes into the vital job of producing quality public interest journalism on behalf of audiences.”
John Farnham: Finding The Voice
Paul Clarke said: “This film was a very special experience for us all. When the spotlight of Australia was on how John Farnham was, our film explained why he is so special to us all. That really resonated for us, and for everyone who saw it.
“This film would not have happened without Mikael Borglund, Martin Fabinyi and the terrific team at Beyond. Thank you to the Seven Network for getting behind it, and to Sony Pictures, Sony Music and Sony Music Publishing for all doing such a great job, and to Screen Australia, Screen NSW and VIC Screen for their unwavering support. But the biggest thanks goes to John Farnham and his family for trusting us with his story, and to the incomparable Gaynor Wheatley who was the film’s greatest champion at the hardest of times.”
Accepting the Logie behalf of the Farnham and Wheatley families, Gaynor Wheatley said: “Thank you TV week and to everyone who voted for us – you had some wonderful options so congratulations to the other nominees. I know John is watching and I hope Glenn is too. Thank you both for trusting us with your story. And to Poppy Stockell, Paul Clarke, Martin Fabinyi and Mikael Borglund for telling it so beautifully. To all the interviewees thank you for sharing your stories. John and Jill would want me to thank Rob and James for standing in during these difficult times, and to my children: Tim Sam and Kara, thank you for keeping me upright and motivated to complete Glenn’s to do list!”
Executive Producer, and Beyond Managing Director Mikael Borglund said: “John’s role in the development of Australian music has been paramount to the industry. As a company that is focused on telling music and cultural stories, this film represents all that Beyond stands for. It was an absolute privilege to be able to chronicle John’s incredible career and life story to date, and we thank all our partners for making it possible.”

David, saw in some media (not here I hasten to add) that it was some sort of conspiracy by seven given they won so many gongs. IMO, complete garbage. Firstly they won 6 which is decent and more than 9 and 10 but hardly massive. If you look at their six, no controversy really. Matilda / women’s FIFA winning hardly a surprise given it was the highest rated program in 2023; the voice rates really well in its category; Larry winning 2 – in 2023, the chase was rating very well (still rates pretty well today) as does his morning show so no surprise he got the silver for best / most popular host….the gold Logie was a pleasant surprise. Who would deny RFDS a gong…..it’s (almost) the only show I was watching on seven in 2023 – I can’t remember the 6th one but for the categories I am familiar with, I wasn’t surprised of any of the winners (including other broadcasters) except for the gold and was happy for Larry…..and given his speech, will probably be used as the modern day template for others to attempt to emulate.
Just remembered, The 6th logie was of course the John Farnham doco – which rated through the roof so again, hardly a surprise it won its category.
I thought Johanna Griggs’ final message on stage was interesting and possibly eyebrow raising from Seven. “Don’t forget to support the Paralympic Games…” etc. Michael Healy on Table 9 must’ve been smiling like a cheshire cat for the free promotion! Griggs has long been a passionate advocate for the Paralympic movement and also anchored multiple on Seven.
I thought it was generous and I don’t think in the context Seven would have taken umbridge. It would be different say, if she was appearing on a promo. Joh did a great job with that segment.
Yes, I noticed this also…..Joanna has never been backward about being forward on matters near and dear to her and I am guessing it’s why she is quite popular and has such longevity in an otherwise fickle industry. I recall watching the Qld Comm Games for the closing ceremony – the one where the organisers decided to not include the athletes entering the stadium – it was odd and definitely poor but made all the more watchable by Joanna’s real time outrage …. And a pretty quick mea culpa from the organizers the following morning. For the host broadcaster to provide such critical commentary was highly unusual but 100% on point. For those of us who are fans, it’s her authenticity we enjoy – whether it’s promoting something on nine or being critical of what is happening on her own network, you’re not wondering where she stands.
