Back then, the only way to tell if another kid might be gay was if he also watchedDynasty, Dallas and could name all four of The Golden Girls.”
Berlanti then recalled the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s that, along with fear, brought the first images of openly gay men on television that he saw “holding hands with other men, marching and fighting for their lives.”
“They gave me hope that I might one day have their courage to come out and share my truth with the world,” Berlanti said.
“When I think about it, to have traveled that distance from that scared kid years ago to this stage with my husband in the audience and our two beautiful children, Caleb and Mia, watching at home, when I think about how much the world had to change to make the life I’m living now possible, even in hindsight, it’s unimaginable to me.”

Yeah weird. It’s a drama – a good one I think, but definitely not a comedy.
Matty Matheson as Neil Fak – is the closest to a comedic character I suppose but thats about all.
I (and I assume others) don’t get why The Bear is listed under Comedy, I was only able to watch 1 and 1/2 episodes and I didn’t find it funny or entertaining at all and couldn’t continue with it
I’m halfway with you. Seasons one and two were magnificent, but S3 descended into portentousness (one might argue like Carmy himself which might actually be the point). But however much you may or may not enjoy the show, a comedy it is not.
Yeah, I’m surprised not only that The Bear is considered a comedy but also that it actually *won*! Comedy acting should be judged through the lens of comedy, it should not be judged the same as dramatic acting (which is the only possible rationale I can see for this result) so including dramas in there isn’t comparing apples to apples.
I completely get the dark humor of The Bear I can see why it can win in the comedy categories. In previous years if it was in the drama categories it would have struggle to win any emmy awards against Succession or Shogun
The problem is you could say the same thing about The Sopranos or Succession. The Emmy’s must put a stop to this blatant cheating.
Ok.how is it cheating?
With the irony being that the drama Succession was way funnier and comedic than The Bear.
They need to just have a long form and short form category for Drama.
