Eureka in production on The Piano

"Bake Off for Pianos" is coming....

EXCLUSIVE:

UK music format The Piano is being filmed in Australia by Eureka Productions.

Filming was spotted this week at Melbourne’s Southern Cross railway station with cameras centred on an unattended piano on the concourse, as people tinkled the ivories for passers-by.

Two seasons have screened in the UK with cameras capturing strangers playing classical standards, contemporary hits, and original compositions -by the end of the first series one talented pianist, a young blind girl who was also autistic, performed at the Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre.

The show has been likened to “Bake Off for Pianos.”

The format has since been sold to Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark.

Chris Culvenor from Eureka said, “The Piano is a beautifully crafted, feel-good format that will showcase tremendous Australian talent and highlight compelling Australian characters. It’s a true privilege to bring this series to Australia.”

  1. Completely love The Piano. I don’t know how they are saying it is like “bake off for Pianos’. They are both sweet and not nasty. Last years winner of The Piano has now been signed up for a record. It will be interesting to see who the judges are ……

  2. Perfect fit as host, was thinking Amanda or Gretel would work. Looking forward to this, the UK version tug on heartstrings and managed to get a tear or 5 out of me.
