Ryan Moloney to return as Neighbours guest

End of an era for Toadie in Erinsborough, but future appearances are now confirmed.

There are bowling shirts, Hawaiian shirts, fake mullets and even memories of the Full Monty when Jarrod ‘Toadie’ Rebecchi departs Neighbours on Wednesday.

Ryan Moloney has been with the 10 soap since 1995 -more than half his life on the planet.

And while he has previosuly teased Harold Bishop-like returns to the show in the future, it is now confirmed.

“Ryan’s final episode as a regular cast member is next Wednesday 25 September, but he will return from time to time for guest appearances on the show,” a 10 spokesperson told TV Tonight.

“Ryan is also continuing to develop as a director behind the scenes too.”

How is exit is handled remains under wraps, but ‘Toadie’ has already referred to a return to his hometown Colac, in Western Victoria. That would mean more accessible returns to Erinsborough than a move to Queensland, where many Ramsay Street residents seem to end up.

Ryan Moloney, currently touring the UK in his ‘Toad on the Road’ solo show, is otherwise pursuing directing opportunities on the Fremantle soap, having already completed episodes behind the scenes.

Neighbours screens 4pm Monday – Thursday on 10 and is available on Prime Video.

    1. I’m not, to be honest. There’s nothing more they can do with him. At least it will only be an occasional appearance. I feel like they need to do the same for Paul.

  1. Very disappointed in the recent Toadie story lines. When did Toadie become so selfish and uncaring and basically a tool? Honestly they should have just left him to be eaten by a crocodile during the kidnapping story. All the goodwill amassed by the Toadie character over 20 plus years has been thrown away over the last few months.

  2. Im so over the toad… I was hoping the crocodile from the outback was going to make a surprise return to Erinsborough and kill the toad off… The character just has been written appallingly since the return.

  3. Erinsborough won’t be the same without Toadie, even though he wasn’t one of my faves. I also found his recent storyline unconvincing. And while the outback episodes looked great, the story seemed half baked. But I’m looking forward to seeing the new characters who replace Toadie, Mac and Haz.

    1. Yeah, Toadie’s exit storyline has been pretty poor. Even Ryan criticised its treatment of mental health as we never really saw Toadie struggling, only other characters reactions.

      1. Agree, the writing for his mental health storyline could have been much better, and really went into the depth of mental illness but still taking into account this is a soap\drama and not a documentary. The other characters have just treated him like crap for having mental health issues and make it about themselves. Hopefully on his future visits he will encounter the rest of the street being more supportive and apologetic for the way they treated him.
