Sorry watching HYBPA showed to me what I am missing not watching I’m a Celeb with Robert Irwin hosting …. I am so glad this was only once off ….. his presenting style was something you would find on Frontline …. he can present but stay away from anything comedy he doesn’t yet have that skill …… he didn’t have the natural banter
I think Robert Irwin did an outstanding job hosting HYBPA last night and just proving he’s a class act. He skillfully set up Sam Pang to drown in his own smut on numerous occasions. We should applaud Robert’s sense of humour that always seems to punch up rather than down – looking at you Sam Pang. Intelligent well timed humour will always get the biggest pay off and laugh than a series off put downs so it’s brilliant to see Robert’s humour takes the high ground path rather than Sam Pangs easy 2 second titter having a go at someone. Well done Robert! Pleasure to watch you hosting last night. Has anyone at Channel 10 realised yet he’d be brilliant at hosting Big Brother when it returns next year?
Surely Sam’s jokes are done with a level of inclusion? I always feeling we are laughing with, not laughing at.
I agree, i always feel Sams humour is tounge in cheek and the person he is insulting is in on the joke..i never feel he is nasty..
It’s an interesting discussion point actually. I like Sam well enough and think he is rather funny. But earlier this year, someone that I kinda know was on one of the show’s video questions and I have to be honest; Sam’s put-down of them was rather mean-spirited… Some would call it “nasty”. And of course, being a pre-recorded video question, it wasn’t as if said person could fire back a retort (which I’m certain he would have in real life). Unsure what my conclusion is, but maybe Sam has to pick his targets a little more carefully.
I thought Robert did OK last night, but quite often the banter between the panel and Robert was abit awkward at times.
The only awkward banter I saw was Sam Pang as all his usual put down material he gets away with all fell flat. Didn’t notice any other awkward banter other than that. If anything, Robert raised the bar of the panels comedy last night and they all worked a bit harder. Robert nailed the hosting role that he’s the straight man setting up the jokes for the panel and you could see them responding to it. The Minecraft line about a certain book was hilarious and extremely clever that he helped set up.
You’re not a Sam Pang fan. We get it. I am. Humour is very personal.
