Seven is adding a brand-new twist to The Chase, a Mega Money Spinner.
Contestants will advance through the Final Chase with the chance to earn massive rewards. If they answer 10 questions correctly, they’ll spin the Money Spinner, with a potential win of up to $50,000. Answer 15 questions correctly, and they’ll have the opportunity to spin the Mega Money Spinner, where the top prize soars to $100,000.
Each spinner features various cash amounts, and the value where the spinner lands will be added to the contestant’s total. But they must still outsmart the Chaser to claim their prize.
Seven describes the Mega Money Spinner as a “reoccuring new format point” so it isn’t clear how often it will come into play in the weeks ahead.
The Chase Australia is produced by ITV for the Seven Network.
Begins 5.00pm Monday, 23 September on Seven.

That completely misses the point of the show and it being a tactical game of playing the offers correct.
The show screwed itself over from the beginning though setting the questions at $2k each but the offers not really reflecting the higher question value, and therefore people not being tempted to play as much as they should.
Is this gimmick really needed? They hyped up the Double the Chaser earlier this year, to only show them randomly over a one month period.
And if you think that the winnings/ earnings of The Chase is bad, you should watch Mastermind and Hard Quiz…
Double Trouble was nothing more than a cynical attempt to lure eyeballs away from Tipping Point, the then-new kid on the block. There were barely 10 or so episodes made, it didn’t actually do anything to shake up the format. Chasers rotating between rounds? That’s seriously it? *yawn*
Also, Mastermind/Hard Quiz are taxpayer funded. Of course ABC/SBS aren’t going to splash our money on extravagant cash prizes. Similarly, Pointless in the UK also gives away very little money, but at least there’s a sensible reason for it. Those shows aren’t held to the same scrutiny.
It’s about time they did something about the dismal cash pool. The show sometimes goes for weeks at a time without giving away a cent, and when they do, it’s a measly amount that gets split. I reckon Deal or No Deal has given away more in its first month on air than what The Chase has given away all year.
And while the chances of contestants winning will likely remain low, at least it’ll be more exciting when contestants prevail.
This is the main reason I prefer Tipping Point over The Chase. The person that makes it to the third round will walk away with some money, or make a dumb decision with the temptation.
@David Knox, your headline states “A brand new element enters The Chase from Monday with up to $100,000 to be won” but the closing sentence states “Begins 5.00pm Monday, 23 September on Seven”. Not to be anal redundant but which one is it?
Not the headline but thanks, Sept 23.
