9News Queensland will broadcast the first Leaders’ Debate of the Queensland State election campaign, live from its Mount Coot-tha studios in October.
Melissa Downes will be moderator.
The one-hour debate will pit Labor Premier Steven Miles against Liberal National Party Leader David Crisafulli. As the election looms on Saturday, October 26, the debate offers voters a timely opportunity to hear the political leaders explaining their policies for the pressing issues at stake.
Nine Queensland will showcase the pivotal debate with an expert team delivering high-quality, analytical coverage.
9News Queensland’s Melissa Downes will steer the debate as the moderator, aiming for a dynamic and engaging exchange. There will be questions from the panel of 9News Queensland State Political Reporter Tim Arvier, 4BC Afternoons Presenter Sofie Formica, and Brisbane Times Editor Sean Parnell. Their collaboration and insight promises to extract crucial details from the two leaders and set the stage for the remainder of the election campaign.
As parliament adjourns for the election break, all eyes will turn to the campaign and this critical debate, which will provide voters with a clear view of Steven Miles and David Crisafulli’s vision for Queensland’s future.
Thursday, October 3, from 7.30pm AEST on Nine Queensland.

Always tricky, but if we could try to keep comments to TV aspect that would be appreciated.
I really want someone in the media to ask Crisafulli if he’s going to stop the electricity rebates we’ve been getting. I bet they won’t.
I would like someone to ask him why did he make a snide, remark while grinning in parliament yesterday about “the right women have about their bodies” that was completely childish, immature, offensive, unnecessary and to be honest shades of Trump…it didn’t go down well and he was asked to withdraw the remark and some people are seriously considering going to vote for a person that stoops so low with cheap and nasty shots thinking they are funny which is not the first time with his track record either by the way……to run Queensland…frankly I prefer a premier with at least some integrity and more maturity instead of giggling while he speaks to people to lead Queensland over money any day.
