The Project interview draws world headlines, but no season high.

The Block, Home & Away best in entertainment. Nine wins Wednesday.

The Project screened a world first interview with Olympian Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn last night attracting considerable press coverage -including overseas.

It drew 343,000 viewers in National TV Audience, which is probably down on what 10 was hoping for. That number is only on par with last Wednesday’s 339,000 but no chance to spruik as a season high.

The Block topped entertainment again at 970,000, upstaging The 1% Club UK (785,000), 7:30 (720,000), Thank God You’re Here (585,000), Shaun Micallef’s Eve of Destruction (435,000).

Later The Front Bar drew 543,000 then Gogglebox (540,000), Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee (419,000),

Nine’s Paralympics scored 589,000 / 384,000 / 229,000 in the evening and helped Nine to win Wednesday.

Nine News averaged 1.14m then A Current Affair (972,000) and Tipping Point (618,000).

Seven News was #1 at 1.29m. Home & Away was second highest in entertainment at 860,000 with The Chase winning at 653,000. In select cities were Talking Footy (168,000) and Air Crash Investigations (123,000).

ABC News was 843,000. Hard Quiz (405,000), Planet America (383,000) and Antiques Roadshow (230,000) followed.

10 News First pulled 314,000 then Deal or No Deal (274,000) and a replay of HYBPA? (178,000).

On SBS it was SBS World News 206,000 / 170,000 then Secrets of our Universe with Time Peake (163,000), Dan Snow’s Greatest Discoveries (155,000), Mastermind (95,000) and The Sixth Commandment (87,000).

  1. The Project team said it was the biggest story of the year, I don’t think a 36 year old lady who is bad rap dancer who didn’t read the brief properly is a big story.
The old Project team Carrie, Tommy, Pete and Lisa ruined the show with their big egos along with the final nail in the coffin (the Brittany Higgins story) the way the executives handled that story behind the scenes was appalling, we all got to see how inexperienced and unethical they are.
The new hosts are better but it’s the format, graphics that need changing, they need a good executive team behind them to make it better, it needs a refresh, 10 still think it’s their flagship show but don’t know how to make it better and they continue to employ inexperienced people who don’t know what they are doing, sales people are becoming EP’s over there now I hear.

  2. The project is unlikely to achieve better ratings than this. Most of the audience that the project used to attract has moved to streaming services or other forms of entertainment. It seems that many TV viewers are a rather disheartened group. Just look at the ratings for ‘Block’ and ‘TGYH.’ For a quality show like ‘TGYH,’ there are only about 500,000 viewers, while ‘Block’ has around 900,000.

    1. I don’t watch The Project or anything much on FTA other than some shows on ABC & SBS, but one thing I do not believe in.. is endless criticism and ridicule of a person like Raygun (who I never heard of till the Olympics like a lot of people) has copped just because she did not live up to people’s expectations (some comments have been cruel, hurtful and just not acceptable)..unfortunately this why a lot of society thinks it’s okay and acceptable nowadays to publicly shame people because they don’t meet their often “questionable” standards. I must be one of the few (or many) who does not give diddly squat about rating, I watch shows because they appeals to me…not what others think, feel or recommend about them.

  3. I think the ratings for the project completely reflect what people now think of it….its too preachey, too woke and their original audience has permenantly deserted them..and i was one of them.

    1. And there’s that word everyone uses, but don’t know how to explain what it means.
Also don’t they have Steve price and Kate langbrooke on the show….

      1. ‘Woke’ is always used to deride content that is uncomfortable and highlights the inequities in society that a lot of people would rather pretend didn’t exist (eg gender quality, LGBTIQA+ issues, racism, disability issues…I’ve seen ‘woke’ used to deride all these topics).

  4. Time to get over “Raygun”…she gave it a shot…now it’s time for some of the armchair critics who have trouble getting out of a chair little alone bust a move….to move on too. 🦘

    1. Did “Raygun” get paid for the interview? She’s choosing to remain in the spotlight by doing these interviews and I have heard of a potential appearance in reality tv show so you cant entirely put all the blame on “armchair critics” for keeping this story going.

    1. I don’t want it to disappear either! It absolutely blows my mind, especially with this show, the amount of people who call for a show they don’t watch to be axed!! Why?? If you don’t watch it then how does it affect your life if it stays on air for the people who do watch it? I think its a sad reflection of the world at the moment – ‘I don’t like something so everyone else should suffer’…sad.
