Guy Seabstian has quit as a coach on The Voice following six seasons across Seven and Nine combined.
“Hey beautiful peeps!! Firstly congrats to Reuben De Melo on his win on @thevoiceau this year, SO deserved!
I have some news to share with you all regarding my role as a Voice coach,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I have made the decision to take a break from the best red chair on the planet. It’s been six amazing years as a coach & it’s honestly been the best gig ever! I have nothing but good things to say about the show itself, & sharing the panel with such amazing coaches has been a pleasure.
“It’s been a privilege to guide the next wave of Aussie talent alongside the wonderful teams & crew at @channel7 & @itvstudiosaus ! The best thing about the show is how positive it is & how much care and passion goes into making it a safe place for artists.
“For me right now, it’s time to focus more on my core, which is writing and performing new music. I am busy planning shows in Australia & worldwide & I am really looking forward to getting out and connecting with you all there.
“For too long now, I have been reading comments from you asking when I will be visiting your town/country & it’s high time I come and visit! I’ve worked on this upcoming album for four years & I’ve poured everything I have into it, so I need to pay respect to that effort & the art I’ve created.
“Whoever has the audacity to take my chair, don’t get too comfortable… I will wrestle for it back with zero dignity when I’m ready to return.
“Thank you everyone, it’s been a blast & let’s keep supporting fresh Aussie talent – it’s some of the best in the world!”
Seven Network Chief Content Officer, Brook Hall, said: “Guy has been a powerhouse coach for The Voice on Seven. His mentorship and command of artistry has been inspirational to our Voice artists and viewers alike, as well as the production team and all at Seven.
“We thank Guy for his unwavering passion and positive energy on set, and wish him well for next year, the release of his new album and his live shows.
“Our full coaching line up for the 2025 season of The Voice will be revealed in coming months.”

Hopefully bring Delta back.
I think it’s good timing Guy’s leaving because it needs a freshen up, and a lift in the younger demos.
The international judges The Voice has had in the past have been outstanding if you look at who Nine’s had in the past. I like Leanne this season but last season CH7 combining Jason, Rita, Jess and Guy had more X Factor.
My pick, Danni Minogue, Brittany or Christina, Jason Derulo and Ricky Martin.
That is the thing on La Voz Espana they have regular judges but generally they aint on 6 years running as a result it seems a lot fresher.
must be getting too expensive for Seven
Why does a cynical lens have to be put on everything?
Katy Perry recently left her lucrative position as judge on American Idol to focus on her music. These talent shows require months to film.
And we have seen how successful that has been …….
Katy Perry is very successful. Sold out over 10 Arena show in Australia alone. Couldn’t come here while doing The Voice.
That maybe the case but the reason she left was to promote her new album. As I said we know how successful that has been :)
Any lens applied here is by you. I think it’s empowering for any employee to stand up to an employer and say I’m worth more.
The best Voice news ever!
