Panthers glory tops ratings week

With the NRL Grand Final and The Block, Nine was always going to win last week.

NRL together with a renovation juggernaut, ensured Nine secured a win in the ratings last week.

The NRL Grand Final tore up 3.42m viewers, the fourth biggest audience all year.

The Block topped entertainment at 1.24m viewers.

Seven News (Sunday) was best for Seven at 1.19m while MKR on Tuesday score 915,000.

HYBPA? was again best for 10 at 695,000.

For the third week running Nine did not send weekly results.

  1. The NRL is certainly going to help Nine win this week. I wonder why Nine opted to play the GF in prime time rather than in twilight? Since the start of the new broadcasting deal in 2013, NRL GF is played in prime time.

    1. Maybe because a NRL Grand Final in East Coast primetime would count more towards the overall ratings share than a daytime or even twilight match would?

      While the AFL are standing firm on tradition (likely because their game has considerably more of a following in non-AEST/AEDST timezones), I’ve got no doubt that Seven would like a primetime AFL Grand Final to become a permanent part of Australia’s sporting calendar after those very good ratings for the primetime-held, COVID lockdown-era, interstate held finales.
