A rare Thursday episode of The Block upstaged ABC's new Grand Designs Australia. Socceroos play on 10.

Thursday night saw two renovation shows competing for viewers.

There was a rare Thursday edition of The Block (due to Sunday’s NRL Grand Final) at the same time as ABC’s new Grand Designs Australia premiere.

But the loyal viewers of The Block ensured it led entertainment at 949,000 viewers in National TV Audience.

An extended Home & Away drew 748,000 fom 7pm then 7:30 (713,000), Grand Designs Australia (560,000) and Football: AFC Asian Qualifiers (456,000) the best audience since March 2022.

Later RPA led with 481,000 then Australia’s Most Dangerous Prisoners (374,000).

In the end Nine pipped Seven by a whisker in evening share.

Nine News averaged 1.04m then A Current Affair (894,000) and Tipping Point (570,000). A&E After Dark managed 219,000.

Seven News was #1 at 1.19m with The Chase on 548,000. Ron Iddles: The Good Cop replayed to 288,000.

ABC News scored 786,000. Hard Quiz (304,000), Return to Paradise (215,000) and Antiques Roadshow (171,000) followed.

There were low numbers on 10 with 10 News First (285,000), Deal or No Deal (255,000) and The Project (253,000).

On SBS it was Great Australian Walks (198,000), SBS World News (170,000 / 138,000), National Parks from Above (132,000), Paris Has Fallen (72,000) and Mastermind (64,000).

Today Extra: 162,000 / 94,000
