Scrubs reboot is “really close”
Part reunion, part reboot, comedy return would include original cast alongside new characters.

A return to Scrubs is looking more likely than not, according to a US report.
“I think it’s getting really close to being figured out, and I think in a good way,” Lawrence has told Deadline. “Big chunks of the creative team behind the camera, and most of it from in front of the camera, are all super invested and excited, so very close.”
Scrubs 2.0 is being touted as a hybrid between a revival, revisiting original characters a decade and a half later, and a reboot, revamping the concept with new characters.
“We’ve been talking about a lot, and I think the only real reason to do it is a combo,” Lawrence said.
“A: people wanting to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, which is part of any successful reboot.
“But B: I think that show always worked because you get to see young people dropped into the world of medicine, knowing young people that go there are super idealistic and are doing it because it’s a calling. There’s no cliché ‘rich doctors playing golf’ — that’s not what it is anymore. So I think that, no matter what it is, it would be a giant mistake not to do as a combo of those two things.”
The original cast, who all reunited in 2022, have reportedly all said that they would be happy to come back, including star Zach Braff.
Scrubs ran for 9 seasons from 2001 – 2010.

Loved the show back in the day, but it’s hard to get too excited about this. Not only does the reboot premise sound exactly like the ill-fated and downright awful Season 9, but it’s easy to forget that Seasons 6 to 8 weren’t exactly great TV either.
Agree completely. During their rewatch podcast, there was often talk about wanting to do a reboot, the problem is, the show ran out of ideas by season 6, and season 9 is considered best left forgotten. Even the podcast when downhill as they rewatched season 6 onwards, as you could tell they were less interested in the episodes and there was less to talk about. The podcast became tedious to listen to, and was filled with personal chatter, star wars, or unrelated guests.
*Nine* seasons?! Blimey. I thought it had only run for about four or five seasons.
Have they forgotten the final season of Scrubs? It was a few old cast with an influx of young newcomers and is widely disliked. The other seasons average 8.1 on IMDB and the final season is 6.2.
