Shaun Burgoyne joins FOX Footy

Former Port Adelaide & Hawthorn player becomes the first of several names expected to sign with FOX Footy for next season.

Former AFL player Shaun ‘Silk’ Burgoyne will join FOX Footy in 2025.

Burgoyne, who played 407 games for Port Adelaide and Hawthorn, has recently been providing comments for Channel Seven but becomes the first of several names expected to sign with FOX Footy  next season.

For at least the first eight rounds nationally and at least the first 15 rounds in Victoria, FOX Footy has ‘Super Saturday Live’ -the only place with AFL live on a Saturday.

FOX Sports Managing Director Steve Crawley said, “Shaun is a straight shooter with a trusted opinion and has earned the respect of all football fans. He is football royalty and he wants to work at FOX Footy.”

During the 2025 season, FOX Footy commentary and production will be available on all games for the first time along with no ad-breaks during play and every match in 4K on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.

  1. “For at least the first eight rounds nationally and at least the first 15 rounds in Victoria, FOX Footy has ‘Super Saturday Live’” …. what happens after rounds 8/15? No more Super Saturday Live on FOX Footy? Do we then have to watch the remaining rounds on 7?

    1. As indicated every game will be carried live on Fox Footy, what it looks like they’re promoting is exclusivity of Saturday games – presumably 7’s Saturday night game is shifting to Thursday night. The AFL doesn’t complete scheduling of the fixture post Rd 15 until mid-season, so Foxtel can’t promote full season Saturday exclusivity (in Vic at least) because they don’t know if they’ll have it yet.
