“The decision was made last week that I was no longer required on this show”

Mark Robinson wan't in the mood for a season finale after upstairs gave him the bad news.

Former AFL 360 host Mark Robinson has disclosed why he did not appear on the season final show on FOX Footy last night.

Speaking on his regular slot on RSN’s Breakfast with Harf, Robinson admitted his exit wasn’t his choice.

“No, I didn’t go in last night as you know,” he began.

“Wow, what can I say? I enjoyed it for 14 years, it was great, I loved it. Changed my life.

“But the decision was made last week that I was no longer required on this show.

“Got told last Tuesday by (FOX Sports boss) Steve Crawley that changes would be made, and unfortunately I’m the change.

“It was pretty tough doing the shows last week actually.”

He confirmed Crawley has asked him to consider a couple of roles at FOX Footy.

“At the time I just said ‘can I think about it?’ because I was still picking myself up from the floor.”

  1. Steve Crawley is out of touch with his audience robbo was the show he was us gerard is full of facts and figures with no sense of humour Robbo was the show and we loved the way he was I would love to know what the reason is since they just won best footy show on tv that wont happen again moving someone on for what
Robbo thank you you will be missed

  2. For those that didn’t hear the interview, I found it interesting that Robbo thanked everyone that was involved with the show – Fox Footy in general – for contacting him… Apart from 1 specific person who has filled in for him that he was “disappointed” with. He will probably backtrack in the future on that, but I am personally not surprised and am not a fan of said person (ex Hawk/Demon for those unsure). Either way, I think Fox Footy need to choose a replacement that is more a man of the people and has a joking nature to replace Robbo. Whateley needs someone like that to play off. Lyon & Lewis (oops) are certaintly not that. Riewoldt is, although is also a little inexperienced.

  3. Guess Steve Crawley decided it was difficult to do the show with Mark Robinson often sadly getting sick and having to find a replacement on the night. It’s a shame it happened like this, and I do hope Mark Robinson stays with Fox Sports and maybe goes on to do the Mid-Week Tackle with his Herald Sun colleagues.
