Mystery drama Vera is concluding over the festive season in the UK ending after 13 years on the small screen.
The special is called “Vera… Farewell Pet.”
Star Brenda Blethyn has teased, “I will tell you there’s trouble with Detective Inspector Joe Ashworth. Joe has something going on that he doesn’t want to talk about and Vera is anxious to get to the bottom of that.
“We know he came back to the area because his father was ill. He passed away [which] we’ve already seen. Joe doesn’t seem to have come out of that dungeon and Vera‘s concerned about that.”
The final season was confirmed after Blethyn announced in April that she would be stepping down from the role, saying: “Working on Vera has been a joy from beginning to end and I’m sad to be saying Cheerio.
“But I am so proud of our achievements over the last fourteen years. I’ll be forever grateful to the wonderful Ann Cleeves who created Vera, and to Elaine Collins who saw fit to cast me in the role… Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
A date for Australia are yet to be confirmed.

Brenda has created a rare icon who will live on entertaining future generations for many years to come. It is a shame no Australian broadcast date has been announced. In 2024 Australian broadcasters should not be making audiences here wait for anything that comes from overseas.
