Derby Day up for Nine

Nine's Cup Carnival coverage is off and racing.

Nine has talked up its coverage of Derby Day comparing figures with 2023 performances on 10, albeit coming after a change in ratings reportage this year.

The early session drew a National Total TV Average Audience of 192,000, up 187% rise on last year’s broadcast while the second session averaged 249,000, up a 115% increase on last year’s figures, according to Nine.

Nine hosted guests at its Birdcage marquee at Flemington, ahead of tomorrow’s Melbourne Cup event.

Brent Williams, Director of Sport for the 9Network, said, “These exceptional ratings reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering the best coverage of one of Australia’s most beloved sporting events. Penfolds Victoria Derby Day provided some unforgettable moments, especially with Jamie Kah’s incredible ride on Goldrush Guru. We’re thrilled that so many viewers joined us to experience all the excitement and drama as part of Nine’s comprehensive Melbourne Cup Carnival coverage.”

Nine has rights to the Carnival until 2029.
