Former WIN TV Mt Gambier site for sale

SES8 broadcast on site until 2013, now the site is like a time warp.

The former television home of WIN TV in Mt Gambier is on the market.

Braodcasting as SES8 until 2013, it had a 54 year television history. Located opposite the Blue Lake, it was sold in 2020 as a multi-purpose space. Most recently it has been utilised as a cellar door and café.

“It’s all pretty much what it was like when they stopped (local broadcasting). It’s like they literally stopped and just walked away,’’ agent Tahlia Gabrielli of Ray White Real Estate said.

“All the old sets and backdrops are there. The green room is still there. Obviously everything is a bit older than what they would use (to broadcast) now but there’s a lot of history.’’

The site has the potential for events and functions within the media, telecommunications, tourism, and hospitality industries.

According to a description, “The solid-built brick property comes with much more than a rich history-sitting on a 2,948m2 allotment, it overlooks the town and Blue Lake with residential buildings surrounding it. There is undercover parking attached to the rear of the building for convenience and security, along with parking behind the security fence. Access is via a right of way.

“The original technical tower remains on the site, and while not included in the sale, it does offer benefits.

“The front entrance opens into a foyer that is fully enclosed with glass windows and features slate floors. It leads through to a reception area recently converted into a bar/café. These are spacious, versatile areas. The front of the building benefits from reverse-cycle air conditioning and has a large staircase leading to the upper level.

“A built-in safe sits just outside a central hallway at the end of the reception space. Male and Female toilets sit immediately to the right, equipped with a powder area between them. A large kitchen is adjacent, and two offices are separated by one of five lower-level storerooms.

“Two fully equipped production studios with green and blue screens sit at the rear of the ground floor. The studios benefit from a convenient artist/staff entry that directly accesses the rear space. The building has two upstairs portions. The first is at the front, and the second is at the rear, directly over the studio space.

“The rear section offers four distinct office spaces with a hallway connecting them. The front section features seven office spaces, a spacious boardroom, a second kitchen and two storerooms. All these spaces are versatile and could be knocked through to create much larger areas (STCA).”
