John Demetrios wins Dessert Masters 2024

Executive Pastry Chef John Demetrios outscores Emelia Jackson and Christy Tania to take home $100k prize.

Executive Pastry Chef John Demetrios has won Dessert Masters, taking out the 2024 title winning $100,000 cash.

He scored 38 out of 40 points defeating Emelia Jackson’s 36 points and Christy Tania’s 30 points.

Joining Melissa Leong and Amaury Guichon as judges were 2023 contestants Kirsten Tibballs, Adriano Zumbo and season one winner, Gareth Whitton.

The three finalists were tasked with creating a two-course menu to the themes of green and gold.

Inspired by the fig tree that grew in his childhood backyard, Demetrios chose to hero fig leaf in his green dish with white chocolate crémeux. His gold dish, was inspired by the Victorian Goldrush era with chocolate cake soaked in whiskey syrup plated to resemble a goldmine.

“I can’t believe it, I’m super proud. It’s going to take me a couple of days for this to feel real, I’m sure!” he said.

Despite the talented contestants and delicious dishes 10’s second season has struggled to build viewers, initially screened once a week against The Block and My Kitchen Rules.

10 is yet to confirm a third season for 2025.

  1. Congratulations to John! Well deserved! And great efforts from Emelia and Christy too. I really enjoyed this season of Dessert Masters and I hope there will be another season.

    1. U&W (formerly W channel), which has been the long time British home of MasterChef Australia, is yet to show Dessert Masters. The first season of Dessert Masters was shown on TVNZ in New Zealand in December 2023.

  2. I think this deserves a third season, I’d watch it. While I’m not a fan of stripped formats, I think two episodes a week is best for this one. The weekly airing they started with didn’t work.
