MKR lifts, Matlock upstages Dessert Masters for 10.

My Kitchen Rules narrows the gap with The Block, while Matlock enjoys a promising premiere for 10.

It may have been the habit of people tuning in expecting Have You Been Paying Attention? but Matlock‘s premiere last night had a surprising lift on its lead-in Dessert Masters last night for 10.

Either way, it was a promising start for 10.

  1. I enjoyed Matlock, glad they simulcast it on BOLD as I watched it there to avoid the massive screen junk that 10 insists on placing at the bottom. BOLD is HD and has no junk, unfortunately I think its only on the main channel next week.

  2. Have not read anything but glowing comments about Matlock….all my US friends love it…old and young…The twist at the end knocked my socks off 😲…..Yes Kathy Bates is a good actor…but oh my, the writers make this series what it is, kudos to them!

    1. Seeing the reviews and how the key producers from one of my personal underrated faves, Jane The Virgin, are also involved in Matlock, I’m curious to give it a go.

But it’s going to be hard not to imagine Grandpa Simpson ranting about the Matlock Expressway every time I hear the character’s name.

  3. I have trouble pronouncing septuagenarian but 10 are going all out on Matlock with a simulcast premiere and a main channel repeat later in the week and another repeat the following week on a multi. As an almost septuagenarian I should watch but I can still remember the original with Andy Griffith and, of course, Angela Lansbury in Murder She Wrote.

    1. Ten and ABC are famous for repeating shows multiple times in a week on both the main channel and multis. Given the prevalence of catchup apps, I assume it’s just used as filler content.

          1. It definitely only dropped today. Was advertised in the show tile on the service for a while now and there’s only one episode currently available. 10 must have wanted it to be a hit on their main channel first? Like I mentioned it does move to Friday’s this week so we should catch up with the US soon.

  4. Enjoyed Matlock, liked the twist at the end too, interested to see where it goes. Glad to see it did ok numbers, and probably high numbers for 10 so at least it shouldn’t be bumped next week.
Also good to see an older character these days as the main lead of a series.
