The 10 part series, which is coproduced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment Studios, is based on the Italian medical drama Doc: Nelle tue man (with a male lead doctor). Showcased by Sony at the LA Screenings in May, it is set to premiere on FOX in the USA in January.

“Medical procedurals are intrinsically universal, character-driven stories with a built-in sense of urgency and emotionality,” said Mike Wald, Sony Pictures Television’s exec VP of international distribution and networks.
“When we unveiled Doc at the LA Screenings in May, we knew it was destined to repeat the same success throughout international territories that the original format achieved in Italy. Our mounting sales now confirm that and validate our strategy to invest in proven IP with broad and global appeal.”

The Italian version is on SBS On Demand. I can see why Fox was interested in it. It’s about a House type doctor who loses his memory after being shot and gets a job training residents. It got a full season order and was shot in Toronto but suffered delays due to the strikes and production problems. So pushed to mid-season.
