A year of accolades for After the Party
More success for NZ drama produced by Australia's Lingo Pictures this week.

Australia’s Lingo Pictures is celebrating its latest accolade for acclaimed NZ drama After the Party, which picked up a Best Director win at the Asian TV Awards this week.
It follows a year of recent accolades and international success.
After the Party was also nominated for Best Drama and Best Actress (Robyn Malcolm) at the ceremony televised live from Jakarta to 500 million homes across Asia.
On Monday night it competed at the prestigious 63rd annual Rose d’Or Awards, against such high-profile series as Baby Reindeer, Mr Bates versus the Post Office and Pachinko.
“Lingo Pictures is immensely proud of After the Party and the success is has achieved in New Zealand, Australia and internationally. Dianne Taylor and Robyn Malcolm came to Lingo with a bold idea and it’s gratifying to see audiences responding so enthusiastically to the show. Our congratulations to Robyn for her richly deserved, multiple best actress awards, to Dianne and to our director and fellow producer Peter Salmon who brilliantly helmed the series,” said producer, Lingo Pictures’ Helen Bowden.
It screened in Australia on ABC.
The series, co-created by Robyn Malcolm and Dianne Taylor, and starring Robyn Malcolm and Peter Mullan, premiered on Channel 4 on November 20 and is being lauded in the UK with multiple 4.5 and 5-star reviews including from The Times, The Guardian, The Telegraph and iNews, with both The Guardian and The Telegraph describing Robyn Malcolm’s star turn as ‘the TV performance of the year’.
At the New Zealand TV Awards on November 22, the series won a record nine categories. As well as being named best drama for 2024, After the Party won awards for best actress (Robyn Malcolm), best actor (Peter Mullan), best supporting actor (Elz Carrad), best supporting actress (Tara Canton), best editing, best cinematography, best director comedy/drama and best script: drama for Dianne Taylor.
Director Peter Salmon has also received a nomination in the Australian Directors Guild Awards. Robyn Malcolm has been named National Winner for Best Actress Category in the Asian Academy Creative Awards with the final winner to be announced in early December and has been nominated for Best Actress at the Seoul International Drama Awards where the series has been nominated for Best Miniseries.
After the Party received the Gold Award at New York Festivals TV and Film, and was the first ever New Zealand series selected for Series Mania in France where in screened in the International Panorama and where Robyn Malcolm won Best Actress. It was also selected to screen at Serielizados (Barcelona) where Robyn Malcolm was named Best Actress and at Cinema Jove Festival (Valencia, Spain).
After the Party is a Lingo Pictures & Luminous Beast production filmed on location in Wellington, New Zealand. Lingo Pictures’ Helen Bowden produced the series alongside Liz DiFiore and Peter Salmon with Salmon also directing all six episodes. Executive Producers are Lingo Pictures’ Jason Stephens, with Dianne Taylor and Robyn Malcolm.
